‘Tis the Season

Earlier we discussed some of our latest “cool deals” for winter. Today, we’ll take a broader look at our selection of winter gear here at Enviro. As October rolls into the rearview (Happy Halloween/Dia de los Muertos/Reformation Day everyone!), the chill of winter will soon be fully upon us. But rain, sleet, or shine, work never ends, and we all have to keep warm while we toil towards the onset of spring. Enviro is here to meet your low-temperature needs. We have six basic categories of winter wear: jackets and sweatshirts, gloves, rain wear, insulated clothes, footwear, and flame-resistant jackets. Check the sidebar in the link above, and let’s dive in.

All aboard the high-visibility hype train! High-visibility (hi-viz) clothing has seen a massive boom in popularity as concerns and anxieties about public safety have heightened, particularly in Europe. In a 2008 public information campaign in France, Karl Largerfeld (Chanel’s creative director and public mascot) posed in a hi-viz safety vest alongside the caption “It’s yellow, it’s ugly, it doesn’t match anything, but it can save lives.” Lagerfeld is known for making outlandish, cruel, and stupid statements, but even a broken clock is right twice a day. Hi-viz is essential for low-light environments and worksites with a high level of activity. If you’re working in the snow, it’s that much more important (and difficult) to know where everybody is and what they’re doing. We have comfortable and durable bomber jackets from Tingley and Occunomix, featuring different pocket configurations and materials for various situations.

Your hands are your main tools as a human being, so you have to go to the necessary lengths to protect them in the cold. Our excellent selection of insulated gloves will do the trick. Products like the PowerGrab Thermo Winter Gloves from PIP come with special fabrics that keep the hand warm while evaporating moisture from the skin. Digging deeper into the inventory you’ll find low-priced high-quality gloves like the Sperian Perfect-Coat, which is made of acrylic terrycloth with a coating natural rubber that provides an excellent grip. You also have MCR’s new Ninja Ice glove, a state-of-the-art piece of insulating wear that keeps you warm and toasty while also maintaining your touch sensititivity. The newest models even feature fingertips that can interact with touch screens.

In the snow or rain, you’re going to get wet. It’s a given. There’s water everywhere, and it can easily pool in your shoes or get under your collar, causing all kinds of discomfort. Never fear, we’ve got you covered (literally). Tingley and Occunomix step up to the plate again with top-quality rainwear including overalls that reach up to your chest, and raincoats (raincloaks?) that reach down to your feet. It’s mostly hi-viz wear, which makes sense since the dreary atmosphere that these kinds of conditions create can make it hard to see. Most of the selections come with specialized pockets that can keep your tools dry until you need them. The Tingley Comfort-Brite, the “cloak” I mentioned before, even has a mesh cape back so you can link up to fall protection if you’re working in a job that requires it (best of luck if you are).

When winter comes, you have to be ready. At Enviro we do our part to help you stay ready with some of the finest products on the market.
